Mr. Evangelos Efthimiou

Mr. Efthimiou is a General and Bariatric surgeon.
Mr. Efthimiou, originally from Greece, graduated from the Medical School of Athens in 1990. After graduation, he traveled to the UK to start his surgical training in London at the coveted Imperial College of Medicine, where he pursued an interest in pancreatic cancer research.
He furthered his surgical training as a Specialist in Upper Gastro-Intestinal & Laparoscopic Surgery at the Wessex Deanery, in numerous established hospitals around the UK.
The final stage of his surgical training was completed back in London at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery. At a later stage, he was awarded an advanced fellowship in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery at the internationally acclaimed Mc Gill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada. During his Canadian and international training, he was able to work alongside the renowned President of the Canadian Association of Bariatric Surgeons, Professor N. Christou.
Finally, with his accumulated knowledge and experience in the field of Bariatrics and General Surgery, Mr. Efthimiou was appointed as a consultant in General & Bariatric Surgery at one of London’s most respected hospitals, the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Mr. Efthimiou is a member of various bariatric and surgical associations including the ASGBI (Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland), the AUGIS (British Association of Upper Gastro-Intestinal Surgeons), the BOMSS (British Obesity Metabolic Surgery Society) and the ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery).
His passion and constant involvement in the advancement of the Bariatric Surgery field is demonstrated by his ongoing yearly research, development, peer reviewed publications and attendance of prestigious national and international conferences.
He speaks fluent English and Greek.
Mr. Efthimiou has performed over 1000 weight loss surgeries, including the Gastric Balloon (>200 surgeries performed), the Gastric Band (>200 surgeries performed), Gastric Band Adjustments, the Gastric Bypass (>400 surgeries performed), the Gastric Sleeve (>150 surgeries performed) and Revision Bariatric Surgery procedures.
Professor Nadey S. Hakim

Professor Nadey S Hakim is a General, Transplant and Bariatric surgeon.
Professor Hakim obtained his MD from Paris Rene Descartes University; he received his surgical training at Guy’s Hospital in London and PhD in small bowel transplantation from University College London. He completed a Gastrointestinal Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and Multi-organ Transplant Fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
To date he has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and has written/edited 18 textbooks in the field of General Surgery, Bariatric Surgery and Transplantation. He is the Editor in Chief of International Surgery, a prestigious peer-reviewed journal and is on the Editorial Board of Transplant Proceedings, Graft, Experimental and Clinical Transplantation and of several other journals.
He is a member of the Kidney-Pancreas Committee of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTP) and Past President of the Transplantation Section of the Royal Society for Medicine.
He has been awarded an Honorary Professorship of the University of Sao Paolo, University of Lyon, University of Lima, Peru and University of Beshkent Ankara. He has been a visiting Professor at several prestigious centers including Harvard University.
He is the 35th World President of the International College of Surgeons, based in Chicago. Prior to his election he served as First Vice President and European Federation Secretary of this College.
Professor Hakim speaks fluent English, French and Arabic.
He has recently been awarded the 2007 J Wesley Alexander Prize for outstanding research in the field of Transplantation.
